Safer Roads - Drug Driving - Police seize a car on the A458 to keep other road users safe on Monday the 25th of March 2019.

Car showing no insurance was checked by Officers in Bridgnorth.

On Monday the 25th of March 2019 at 9:35pm, Police on patrol in Bridgnorth on the A458 observed a red Vauxhall Corsa. Police computer systems alerted the officer to the fact that no insurance was showing for the vehicle. The vehicle was pulled over safely and full checks conducted on the car and the driver. It was confirmed that the driver had no insurance the driver was also arrested after they provided a positive drug test.

One of our partner agencies was contacted to arrange for the recovery of the car. The car has now been taken of the roads, making them safer for legal drivers. If the owner of the car wants to get it back, they will have to prove that they have appropriate insurance, Tax and MOT for it.

The driver will also be facing the consequences of driving while under the influence of drugs and driving with out insurance.

Drivers who are not insured or who drive while under the influence of drink or drugs are a serious hazard to other road users, West Mercia Police will continue to target such people to try and keep our roads as safe as possible.
