Appeal for witnesses to series of criminal damage incidents in North Worcestershire

We are appealing for witnesses or information following a series of criminal damage incidents involving vehicles in North Worcestershire.

It is believed that a number of vehicles driving along Worcester Road in Stourport-on-Severn have been randomly targeted and hit by pellets or ball bearings from what is believed to be a BB gun or similar to cause damage to the vehicles.

The incidents have been reported between Friday, 17 May and Monday, 20 May, and we are investigating each of these incidents, which we believe to be linked.

Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector Jake Wright from West Mercia Police said: "Thankfully no one has been injured as a result of these incidents but we are appealing to the public for their help in identifying those responsible.

"Shooting any weapon in a public place without the appropriate safeguards in place creates significant risk to the wider community, but to allow pellets or ball bearings to strike passing cars - whether done so intentionally or not - is very dangerous.

"While investigations are ongoing, local officers have been patrolling the area making door-to-door enquiries and offering reassurance to the local community.

"I would urge anyone with any information to contact my local policing team as soon as possible to allow us to take appropriate action."

Anyone with any information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 777s of 18 May. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Alternatively, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website:
