Police support RAF Cosford Air Show as it gets ready for take-off

West Mercia Police is pleased to once again be supporting this year's RAF Cosford Air Show.

The annual Air Show will take place this weekend at the Shropshire airfield with a six hour flying display and hundreds of attractions on the ground.

And, as with previous year's West Mercia Police will be supporting the event organisers to ensure Sunday (9 June) is an enjoyable day out for all.

The ticket only event is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors with 11,000 vehicles.

People planning on going to the show are asked to make sure they do have a pre-paid ticket as tickets will not be sold on the door.

Those travelling by car are advised that Bowling Green Lane and Kennel Lane will be closed and they should find an alternative route.

Chief Inspector Mark Colquhoun was West Mercia Police's Air Show Commander last year and will resume the position again for this year's event.

He said: "The Air Show is a fantastic day out for all of the family and an event we really look forward to being involved in. As with recent years we will be on standby to support the event organisers should there be any issues.

"We do anticipate the roads around the airfield will be busy so would ask people to make sure they leave plenty of time to get there."
