Suspicious males

2 males in a black van have been in the Upton Upon Severn area today (Tuesday 11th June 2019) calling at an address asking to check drains.  The males stated they were working on behalf of an insurance company.

No money was parted with and males left with nothing.

  • Don't open your door if you are not expecting or do not recognise the person.
  • If you open the door always use a door chain or bar
  • Carefully check the callers identity
  • If in doubt keep them out

Report incidents on 101 or in an emergency 999

Most callers are genuine, but some aren't. Burglars won't go to the trouble of breaking in if they can just knock and be invited in. They may pretend to be Council or Utility company staff, or perhaps tradesmen. If you're unsure, ask the caller to come back later so that you can arrange for a friend or relative to be present.

Crime prevention can found on the West Mercia Police website, for further details please see the Crime & Safety section
