Appeal for witnesses following fatal collision - Beckford, near Evesham

West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses or information following a fatal collision near Evesham this morning (Tuesday 25 June).

Police were called at 6.45am to a collision on the A46 Cheltenham Road near Beckford, involving a silver Vauxhall Vectra and a pedestrian who was tending to his vehicle.

Sadly the pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

Road closures are currently in place at the island for the A46/B4077 and by Long Carrant camping site. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and take alternative routes.

Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident. If you have any information, please call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 83s of 25 June 2019.

A 23-year-old woman from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving. She is currently in police custody.
