Motorbike riders thanked for keeping speed down on Fish Hill, Broadway

West Mercia Police officers would like to thank motorbike riders for taking note of the safety advice and most riders keeping their speed to the limit of the road.

During the summer months Fish Hill becomes a popular motorbike riders route and we want to remind riders to continue to make sure they keep their speed down and not put their own safety, and the safety of other road users, at risk.

West Mercia Police is committed to making roads across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire even safer and is continuing its 'THINK BIKE' campaign throughout the year.
Safer Neighbourhood Officer, Kirsti Tinsley who covers the area of Broadway explained: "Broadway and the surrounding area is a beautiful part of the world and Fish Hill is a route many motorbike riders use especially during the warmer months.
"We are aware of the concerns in the community of speed in the area and are utilising various tactics throughout the coming months to target irresponsible and reckless road users. One such measure is the reinstatement of the speed enforcement site at the bottom of Fish Hill, Broadway; this enables us to place a mobile speed unit in situ to monitor and enforce speed.
"Throughout the year, we also use the speed guns to monitor speed and we are happy that the majority of the traffic, which includes a high number of motorbikes passing through the area are within the speed limit.
"We will continue to issue safety advice and enforce tactics to ensure the safety of the road; bikers can often be at greater risk of being involved in a collision and we want to make sure everything is being done to reduce this.
"All road users have a responsibility in making our roads safer, we know motorbike riders are more vulnerable and would ask that riders make sure they do their bit by not taking unnecessary risks."
She continued: "We are also aware that the community has expressed some concerns of the noise levels in the area  and have raised this with the local council to see how we can progress this issue."
Police will be carrying out proactive operations on key routes around the county, including Fish Hill, and utilising all sorts of different tactics throughout the summer months to target irresponsible and reckless road users.
