Appeal for witnesses following attempted robbery of a man in Frankwell - Shrewsbury

Officers investigating an attempted robbery in the Frankwell area of Shrewsbury are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The attemtoed robbery happened near to the Frankwell roundabout 9.00pm and 9.05pm on Friday 5th July 2019.

The victim, who sustained minor injuries is a young white man and was wearing dark shorts and a dark top has been approached by three other young men, one of whom may have had a knife and who have attempted to rob him. The victim ran off in the direction of the Welsh Bridge (Theatre Severn) but was chased by one of the suspects. No property was taken.

A short time later police have arrived in the area and arrested three people matching the description of the offenders. These three men have been interviewed by police and bailed whilst enquiries are carried out.

  • The first man was wearing a dark top, grey bottoms, had a distinctive dark curly hair, late teens.
  • The second young man was wearing a red hooded top, dark bottoms, short brown hair, late teens.
  • The third young man was wearing a grey/blue hooded top, medium build, short mousy brown hair.

Enquiries are ongoing but officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time. Police would especially like to speak to anyone with mobile or dash cam footage.
