Her Majesty's Inspector of Constabulary (HMIC)

The HMIC for England and Wales has statutory responsibility for the inspection of the police forces of England and Wales.

In 2008, HM Inspectorate of Prisons and HM Inspectorate of Constabulary began a programme of joint inspections of police custody suites in England and Wales.

The inspections make sure that the UK complies with its international obligations to carry out regular independent inspection of all places of custody.

West Mercia Police was inspected in 2010 and again in 2014. The report for the most recent inspection has yet to be circulated.
