I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 3rd January 2017. Please find below the response to your request:

Details of incidents that relate to the night time economy - any incident that is drink or drugs related or happened on a public street or within a licensed premises that occurred over the 2 mad Fridays and the New Years Eve up to and including 06.00hrs on New years day

From: 18.00hrs to 06.00hrs

Whats was the total number of calls that were made to police be that on 101, 999 or from any other system, e.g. CCTV camera operators, ambulance service, or fire service.

2. Please provide details for all calls e during the above period. By details I mean, what was the reason for person calling, what were they reporting, eg they is a man fighting in my bar, etc etc so, I have been assaulted, my phones been stolen, bouncers wont let me into a club etc etc etc

3.Please provide details of the number of assaults that your force dealt with, on the above dates and between the above times, regardless of the fact if any one was arrested, or suspect located, or any other issue

4. Between the above dates and times how many police officers, Special Constables, or Civilian Staff working in custody units, or patrol, or in any other location, were assaulted, for the purpose of this request assaulted is to include spat at, or having body fluids thrown at them.



REPLY: Please be advised that all the information that you have requested is not available in a readily retrievable format. Information regarding if force employees have been assaulted is not held centrally or in an electronically searchable format, and it would require a manual review of every incident log recorded for the time period requested in order for us to identify any relevant information for your request. There were 1447 incidents recorded over the time period requested and should it take a minimum of 1 minute to review each of these logs this would equate to in excess of 24 hours of work. Therefore the cost of providing you with the information is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information exceeds the 'appropriate level' as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.


In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a Refusal Notice for this part of the request and if one part of a request exceeds the fees limit then S12 of the Act applies to the whole request

However, In accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to your request and can provide the information requested for question 1 and the incident types for question 2 as this was retrieved during our initial research. This should not be taken as a precedent that additional information would be supplied outside of the time/fees legislation for any subsequent requests
