I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 7^th March 2019. Please find below the response to your request:

1.       How many times in the past year (since January 2018) has your force been asked to investigate an alleged transgender hate crime regarding comments on Twitter?

2.       How many of those reports led to a) a crime being recorded and b) a non-crime incident being recorded?

3.       Of the crimes, how many led to an individual being contacted either in person or by phone or in writing?

4.       Of the non-crime incidents, how many led to an individual being contacted either in person or by phone or in writing?

5.       And of the crimes, how many led to an individual being a) arrested b) cautioned c) given words of advice/warning d) charged?

6.       And of the incidents, how many led to an individual being a) arrested b) cautioned c) given words of advice/warning d) charged?

Please note that hate crimes are recorded through the use of markers on crimes rather than categorised specifically as hate crimes.  Therefore, the attached data is for where a marker had been applied for 'Transphobic' hate crimes in the event aggravating factor field recorded which contained references to Twitter.  Please note this returned only crimes and non-crime incidents was a NIL RESULT.
