Request your fingerprints

We can take your fingerprints for the following reasons:

• passports and Identity cards
• visa applications
• adoption certificates
• police clearance from abroad
• good conduct certificates from abroad
• for non-UK citizens to work with children in the UK
• foreign professional exams (eg N-PLEX - nursing)
• working in the UK for countries that trade overseas
• adoption procedures abroad, particularly in the USA
• those conducting business in or within the USA in various jobs or professions
• for part of an evidence kit for people working in countries with unstable regimes

Cost

One set of fingerprints: £119.16

Each additional set: £59.64

The following countries are exempt from paying VAT:

• Canada
• Fiji
• Japan
• Nigeria
• St Vincent & the Grenadines
• United Arab Emirates
• Zimbabwe
• Zambia

For these countries one set of fingerprints costs £99.30 and £49.70 for each additional set/thumb print only. 

How to make an appointment

To make an appointment please email [email protected].

Please include:

• your first name
• your surname
• your email address
• your telephone number
• preferred appointment date/time (the Fingerprint Bureau is open Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm)
• any other information relevant to your visit (eg if you have accessibility needs)
• only attend once you receive a 'confirmation of appointment' email

Please note: You'll need to book an appointment; we can't take requests on the day. 

What to bring with you

You'll need to bring the following with you:

• current valid passport or current valid photo driving licence
• paperwork detailing why a set of fingerprints is required
• if you need us to certify any documents please bring photocopies and originals with you

Please note: some countries need you to complete their own forms. For example if you need your fingerprints taken for the US then you'll need to download the FBI's own form from their website and bring that with you to your appointment.

And if you are renewing a South African passport you'll need to bring the form they supply from the South African embassy. 

Please check if the country you're supplying your fingerprints to has their own form and bring that with you to your appointment.
