I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 11th January 2021. Please find below the response to your request:
Calendar years from 01.01.2016 - 31.12.2020.
I am looking for the number of reported incidences of sexual misconduct and sexual assault that have taken place in your region in the last 5 years, in a sports setting, where the victim is under the age of 18.
To summarise, the number of reports sexual misconduct and sexual assault:
- in your region
- across the last 5 calendar years
- where the victim is under 18
- taken place in a sports setting (a sports hall, sports training session, match, coaching sessions, etc.)
- This could be at the hands of a coach or an athlete, or simply anyone involved in the sports team/club. The perpetrator can be of any age.
I am ultimately looking to determine the prevalence of sexual crimes involving young people in a sports setting in the UK.
