I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 5th July 2021 and clarified on 7th July 2021. Please find below the response to your request:
The number of police staff in your force who currently hold roles under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (such as Financial Intelligence Officers (FIOs) and Accredited Financial Investigators (AFIs).
From this figure, please could you also provide answers to the following:
How many police staff are FIOs and how many are AFIs?
How many AFIs work within a dedicated economic crime department, and how many work in other areas (such as CID or Major Crime).
How many FIOs work within a dedicated economic crime department, and how many work in other areas (such as CID or Major Crime).
Clarification: When I say ‘Police Staff’ I am referring to people who work for the Police and who are not Police Officers (i.e. those who were previously referred to as civilian employees). My request refers to those people, not to police officers.

West Mercia Police have 8 Police Staff with a position title of 'Financial Investigator', 7 of which are in the Economic Crime Unit, one of which is in Professional Standards.
