I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 6th July 2021. Please find below the response to your request:
I'd like to make the following Freedom of Information request re: speed cameras and fines.
1/ How many static/permanent speed cameras are there in your authority?
2/ How many additional speed cameras (hand-held) will be in operation over the summer holiday period (22nd July to end of August)
3/ How much money was paid in speed fines in July and August 2020 and July and August 2019?
Reply:-
Albeit not strictly handheld we have 15 mobile kits that can be deployed
The information includes speed offences detected by police officers also.
Speed Camera detected offences – 5,080 offences where the disposal method was accepting the fine and points @ £100 each offence equates to £508,000.
(Officer issued speed offences - 83 offences where the disposal method was accepting the fine and points @ £100 each offence equates to £8,300.)
The data is for speeding offences (offence dates July 2020 – August 2020) where the offender paid the fine and had their licence endorsed with the obligatory 3 penalty points.

Speed Camera detected offences –4,893 offences where the disposal method was accepting the fine and points @ £100 each offence equates to £489,300
(Officer issued speed offences - 113 offences where the disposal method was accepting the fine and points @ £100 each offence equates to £11,300.)
