FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 127318
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 26th October 2021. Please find below the response to your request:
I am seeking the following information:
1) Identify the forensic science providers (FSPs for example LGC Forensics, Eurofins Forensic Services, Cellmark Forensic Services, Key Forensic Services etc) contracted by your police force to provide Forensic Toxicology Services during this period 2012-2018
2) Identify any subcontractors used by these FSPs for Forensic Toxicology (eg. Roar Forensics, Alere, Trimega, Randox etc.)
Reply:-
I can confirm West Mercia Police holds the information you have requested, please see response below:
From 2012 until approx. half way through 2016 West Mercia used LGC (now known as Eurofins) for Road Traffic toxicology submissions.
From mid-2016 until 2018 Cellmark Forensics were awarded the Road Traffic Tox contract .
West Mercia casework toxicology has always been submitted to LGC/Eurofins.
2) Identify any subcontractors used by these FSPs for Forensic Toxicology (eg. Roar Forensics, Alere, Trimega, Randox etc.)
.
Response from Key Forensics:
2018 Key Forensic Services; current legal entity Eurofins Forensic Services
From Key Forensics (Prior to administration):
2012 – 2014 Company Roar Forensics
2015 Company LGC Forensics
2015 - 2017 Company Randox
2017 – 2018 Company Eurofins Forensic Services
Response from Cellmark:
2012/13 – present: Cellmark - Ascertain (which has previously traded as Abbott, Alere and originally ROAR forensics.)
2017 - present: Cellmark - Eurofins (which was previously LGC Forensics)
2014-2017: Cellmark - Randox
Response from Eurofins:
As LGC we certainly used Randox for toxicology work and subcontracted hair tox to Chemtox (Eurofins) between 2012 and 2017.
In 2018 we used LGC (after we became Eurofins) for some substances.
