I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 10^th February 2022. Please find below the response to your request:

Please provide copies of/the following information:

1. Exams or written tests used by your force that are required to be completed by special constables during personal Safety Training
2. Practical tests or practical exams that are required to be demonstrated by special constables during personal safety training. (This should include, but not be limited to, copies of mark sheets and documents outlining the competencies to be demonstrated)
3. Pass mark for all tests / exams / practical elements
4. During the calendar years 2021 and 2020 
- how many trainee special constables passed each of the tests 
- how many trainee special constables failed each of the tests.

Reply:-

1. Exams or written tests used by your force that are required to be completed by special constables during personal Safety Training
   1. Specials are required to complete an eLearning package on First Aid and Manual Handling prior to attendance. Along with tests throughout the attached learning manual.
2. Practical tests or practical exams that are required to be demonstrated by special constables during personal safety training. (This should include, but not be limited to, copies of mark sheets and documents outlining the competencies to be demonstrated)
   1. Throughout there are physical skills based assessments, knowledge checks which include scenarios. There is a safety training theory assessment that requires a 70% pass rate.
3. Pass mark for all tests / exams / practical elements
   5. Special constables must reach a Basic Fitness Test score of 5.4 (or alternative fitness test equivalent). The practical elements are monitored by fully qualified trainers throughout the training session.
4. During the calendar years 2021 and 2020 
- how many trainee special constables passed each of the tests 
- how many trainee special constables failed each of the tests.

         1. 63 Special Constables are in date
         2. 21 Special Constables have expired
         3. 8 Special Constables have failed their test
