I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 5^th July 2022. Please find below the response to your request:

Please provide me with the following information with reference to West Mercia Police:

The total number of uniformed police officers
The total number of police constables
The total number of police sergeants
The total number of non-uniformed support staff

For each of the groups above:

The number of staff in each of those groups that have attended Disability Awareness training

The dates that training was delivered

In each case the form that training was delivered - either e-learning or delivered by a person

In each case the name of the provider of that training.

West Mercia Police do not have a training course specifically called ‘DISABILITY AWARENESS’ but disability, equality, mental health and diversity etc. is a golden thread throughout all our internal training especially our mandatory training. As providing every bit of training since 2017 would take it over 18hours and would endorse a S12 exemption, the response to the request has been focused on the mandatory initial training as every Officer / Special / PCSO and Police Staff must complete it at least one element.

Please Note:

Initial Student Officer training use to be called IPLDP (Initial Police Learning Development Programme). It is now called PCDA / DHEP; Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship and Degree Holder Entry Programme.
