I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 9th November 2022. Please find below the response to your request:
I would therefore be grateful if you could provide me with the following information:
- How many crimes reported to your force were closed without a suspect being identified between 2017 and 2022?
- How many total crimes were reported to the force in the same period?
- Can you also provide a breakdown of the information with regards to type of crime (burglary, assault, sexual assault, etc). Can I have that data broken down by calendar years?

- How many crimes reported to your force were closed without a suspect being identified between 2017 and 2022?
Caveat:
To ensure the Force remains compliant with GDPR and MoPI regulations, certain MoPI Level 3 data is automatically deleted from Force systems after a period of 5 years. As a result, the data within this FOI will only date back 5 years to reduce confusion and the misinterpretation of data as records prior to 5 years will potentially not be complete or accurate.
Data provided for Q1 is for the following Outcome types:
Outcome Type 14: Evidential Difficulties Victim Based- Suspect Not Identified: Crime Confirmed But The Victim Either Declines Or Unable To Support Further Police Investigation To Identify The Offender
Outcome Type 18 - Investigation Complete; No Suspect Identified. Crime Investigated As Far As Reasonably Possible-Case Closed Pending Further Investigative Opportunities Becoming Available
