I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 18^th November 2022.  Please find below the response to your request:

I would like to know:

- how many police officers has the force recruited under the Police Uplift Programme (PUP) since December 2019?

- Of this total, how many officers recruited under the PUP have voluntarily resigned?

- How many officers have left the force since 2017? Please could this information be broken down by category eg normal retirement, voluntary resignation, medical retirement, transfer, death, contract termination/dismissal.

- How many police officers/staff in the force currently have 2 years service or less?

- How many police officers has the force recruited under the Police Uplift Programme (PUP) since December 2019?

• Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires West Mercia Police, when refusing to provide such information (because the information is exempt) to provide you the applicant with a notice which:  (a) states that fact, (b) specifies the exemption in question and (c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.

The exemption applicable to the information is:

Sec 21(1) Information Reasonably Accessible by Other Means

This is an Absolute, class based exemption.

The information that you require is already available. Police officer numbers for operation uplift are published by the Home Office quarterly and can be found at force level, e.g. number of new recruits at force level within table 4 West Mercia Police is not responsible for the content or reliability of any of the websites referenced, and does not necessarily endorse the views expressed within them.
