When did you start to accept video evidence from members of the public to prosecute road traffic offences?
There is no specific date for this question. West Mercia Police have accepted allocations of poor driving from members of the public for a significant period of time before Op Snap was in place. The process allowed members of the public to report matters and provide a statement, some which were supported by video footage. As more and more vehicles have had dash cam fitted, submissions of this nature became more and more frequent, hence why Op Snap was adopted.
- When did you provide an online service allowing members of the public to upload evidence.
The online service for dash cam submission (Op Snap) started during summer 2018.
- For the last four years what was the amount of the reports per reporter road user type (eg. pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist, driver)
West Mercia Police don’t record these by road user type but the total number of submissions to date since Op Snap has started (June 2018) is 13,257.
- For the last four years what was the amount of the reports per reporter gender (or title if gender not recorded).
