I am writing to request access to information regarding the prevalence of child sexual abuse in the UK.
In the financial year 2021/22, please state, per offence code, how many of the following crimes were recorded by West Mercia Police, and what was the outcome of each of those crimes:
- Rape (Home Office offence codes: 01907, 01908*, 01909, 01910*, 01911, 01912*, 01913, 01914*, 01916, 01917, 01918, 01919)
- Sexual assault on a male (Home Office offence codes: 01711, 01712*, 01714, 01716)
- Sexual assault on a female (Home Office offence codes: 02001, 02002*, 02004, 02006)
*These offence codes are used for people 16 or over. If possible, please report separately for victims under 18, and victims 18 and over.

Caveat: In line with national police data returns, the report is based on crime input date. This means that an offence that has occurred some months or years previously but reported recently, will be counted against the year/month in which it was reported. The age of the victim is at the time of the report, if this matter was a historic report or the offence took place over a period longer than 12 months the victims age may not be a true reflection of the victims age at the time the offence occurred. Not all offences have a victim recorded, for example if the offence took place via electronic communication and the victim has not been identified. In the case of questions 2 and 3 there were no offences within the categories marked with an asterix and therefore a breakdown of the victims ages cannot be identified.
The search looks at all recorded crimes within a live police records management system. Volumes may be different compared against previous or subsequent requests as offences can be reclassified and other information used to identify reports can be modified. The report only includes recorded notifiable crimes, excluding crime related incidents and crimes that have been reviewed and changed to no crime.
