I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 3^rd January 2023.  Please find below the response to your request:

Q1 I would like to request the number of recorded mobile phone thefts in each month for the year 2022 (January 2022 to December 2022) for your entire service area.

Q2 I would also like to request the number of recorded mobile phone thefts in the city of Hereford for each month in the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Q3 I would also like to request the number of recorded mobile phone thefts in the city of Worcester for each month in the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Caveat:  The Property Code 3 (Mobile Phone) field is not mandatory and so cannot be used exclusively to search for mobile phone theft. It therefore needs to be used in conjunction with the Incident Summary word searches for which the full phrase ‘mobile phone’ for the free-text search of the Incident Summary field has been used to reduce the number of false positives (eg ‘victim telephoned the police’; ‘theft from mobile home’). 

In addition, it should be noted that the counts will reflect the number of crimes and not the number of phones actually stolen per crime.  The number of phones per theft would require a manual check of each record which would exceed the fees limit and therefore would fall under the s.12 exemption.
