I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 6th March 2023. Please find below the response to your request:
- Have your police force used section 60C of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 since it came into force on 28 June 2022?
If the answer is yes, please answer each of the following questions for the period 28 June 2022 to 28 February 2023:
- How many times has the Force used section 60C from 28 June 2022 to 28 February 2023?
- What conditions (under subsection 4 of section 60C) were met in order to trigger the use of section 60C? Please list in each individual use of section 60C.
- Were any arrests made when using section 60C? If so, how many arrests in each individual use of section 60C?
- Have there been any criminal prosecutions relating to section 60C? If so, how many in total?
- How many vehicles have been seized under section 60D in total?
- Have many fines been issued under section 60C? If so, how many fines, and amounting to what sum in total?
- Were families who were subjected to section 60C powers directed to alternative stopping places?
- Were any welfare checks done before using section 60C? If so, please outline the procedure?
- If the original s60C notice was served by the occupier, please indicate who the occupier was , for example the local authority, other public authority, private landowner. Please provide a total for each different type of occupier.

If the answer is yes, please answer each of the following questions for the period 28 June 2022 to 28 February 2023:
- Once in DLPA (Redditch) and once in CLPA (Worcester)
- DLPA - All three damage to a lock to the barrier, distress to local residents who couldn’t use the park and disruption to a community car park – play area.
CLPA - There was an unlawful encampment at Worcester woods county park. Persons gained access via an insecure gate. There were 8 caravans. County Council staff had witnessed fights amongst the group and vehicles being driven on the open space. There was a craft fair planned in 2 days time – the set-up was due to begin the next morning. The encampment was right where the fair was supposed to be and if the encampment did not move the fair would have to be cancelled. This will be a loss of £500 to the council and an anticipated loss of £1000’s revenue for the organisers and stall holders.
