I would like to submit the below freedom of information requests.
How many individual dogs are currently actively employed in your dog section / dog support unit? Could I have this figure for every year 2010-present.
How many individual horses are currently actively employed in your force mounted unit (if such a unit exists). Could I have this figure for every year 2010-present.

No specific information held. West Mercia Police do not keep records of how many dogs are in service / training each year as this number is very fluid throughout each year due to planned / unplanned retirements of both handlers and / or their dogs for a variety of reasons.
At this current moment in time March 2023 we have a total of 44 licensed police dogs and one currently on a training course which when licensed will increase the establishment to 45 dogs.
How many individual horses are currently actively employed in your force mounted unit (if such a unit exists). Could I have this figure for every year 2010-present.
