Caveats:

In line with national police data returns, the report is based on crime input date. This means that an offence that has occurred some months or years previously but reported recently, will be counted against the year/month in which it was reported.

In order to retrieve these results, we have, at least in part, relied upon a keyword search. If the word Knife/Knives was not used within the incident summary and one of the other markers was not added it will not be included within these results. Conversely if these words have been used within the incident summary but in another context, eg a person has stolen a set of kitchen knives from a store or was holding a butter knife during an argument, whilst not knife crimes as per the Home Office definition, they will be included within this return.
