I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 1^st  September 2023.  Please find below the response to your request:

I would like to request the following data:

• The accident statistics for the Pencraig A40 site in comparison with the average RTI accident rate for the A40.

• The number of speeding fines issued at the Pencraig site annually.

• Any correlation (data) between speeding fines and a reduction in accidents at the Pencraig site, over say a 5 year period (pre-reduction in speed from national speed limit to 50mph and post that change).

• The accident statistics for the Pencraig A40 site in comparison with the average RTI accident rate for the A40.

There have been two serious injury collisions on the A40 at Pencraig since 01st January 2010. Current records show there have been six collisions during that period on the A40 around Pencraig that have resulted in slight injuries, but as non-injury and slight injury collisions do not have to be reported to police there may have been more unreported collisions.

• The number of speeding fines issued at the Pencraig site annually.

The number of offences captured at Pencraig are provided below:

There were fewer deployments in 2018-2020; 2018 had 40, 2019 had 48 and 2020 had 35 deployments

In 2021 there were 83 deployments and in 2022 there were 91 deployments

• Any correlation (data) between speeding fines and a reduction in accidents at the Pencraig site, over say a 5 year period (pre-reduction in speed from national speed limit to 50mph and post that change).

Data held on current systems goes back 10 years. Available information indicates the speed reduction from national speed limit to 50 mph occurred prior to that time so a comparison cannot be made at this time
