I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 28^th September 2023.  Please find below the response to your request:

Can you please provide the following information for your Police Authority;

(1) The number of crimes recorded as 'Domestic Abuse' broken down by the
Gender of the Victim.

(2) The number of incidents (not registered as crimes) recorded as 'Domestic Abuse' broken down by
the Gender of the Victim.

We understand that gender may be recorded on your systems as Male,
Female or Unknown/Other, and that level of information is fine.

If you can only provide one answer because of your collection method,
then that this is acceptable however can you please confirm if you are
providing crimes or incidents.

This request is to cover the period from 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023

(1) The number of crimes recorded as 'Domestic Abuse' broken down by the Gender of the Victim.

Please see below tables for information held by West Mercia Police:

There are occasions where there can be more than one victim linked to a crime, for example in cases of harassment.  For context, two tables are provided: one for the number of unique domestic related crimes and one for the gender of victims linked to those crimes.

2) The number of incidents (not registered as crimes) recorded as 'Domestic  Abuse' broken down by the Gender of the Victim

Please see below tables for information held by West Mercia Police:

For non crime incidents recorded as domestic related, all persons involved/present are linked to the investigation as involved parties and not as suspect/victim as this term is kept for incidents where a crime has been established. Therefore, no information is held in relation to the gender of the victim.
