I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 10th April 2024. Please find below the response to your request:
I am interested in data on those charged with a homicide offence (murder or manslaughter) where there was at least one other suspect charged with the same offence. I understand you collect this data as the force passes this on to the Home Office’s Homicide Index, which logs whether a suspect is the principal or secondary suspect in any murder or manslaughter case.
- For each year (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), how many times the force charged someone with Murder and/or manslaughter, when there was at least one other person charged with the same crime.
- If possible, for each year (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), please breakdown the ethnicity of those charged with Murder and/or manslaughter, when there was at least one other person charged with the same crime.
- If possible, for each year (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), please breakdown the age ranges of those charged with Murder and/or manslaughter, when there was at least one other person charged with the same crime, by a. 14-17, b. 18-24, c. 25-29, d. 30-59, e. 60-69
