1. How many offences of child physical abuse were recorded by the force in the last three years?

(Between April, 6, 2021 - April, 5, 2022/ April 6, 2022 - April 5, 2023/ April 6, 2023 = April 5, 2023)

1a) Of these, how many instances where the suspect/perpetrator was the child's parent/guardian?

Caveat

There is a field on our crime management system entitled “Victim to suspect” relationship where the number of instances where the suspect/perpetrator was the child’s parent/guardian however this does not necessarily mean the individual is a guardian. The roles include in the figures are ex foster, father, foster parent, guardian, mother and step parent. There are a number of reports where relationship has been noted as unknown and also where the suspect may not be known or it has not been recorded. To prevent a S12 time exemption being provided the above information is from what is recorded.
