I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 5th August 2024. Please find below the response to your request:
- How long a record is retained for someone who has provided a negative breath test
- Where that record is stored e.g. PNC, local intelligence etc
- Who that information is shared with and under which legislation e.g. another police department internally or external force and the purposes of the sharing

- How long a record is retained for someone who has provided a negative breath test
This is generally recorded on the incident log which kept for 6 years.
It is possible that it maybe recorded on a crime report which maybe kept for longer dependent on the seriousness of the incident. This is guided by MOPI (Management of Police Information).
- Where that record is stored e.g. PNC, local intelligence etc
This will be held on local systems, incident recording system, it maybe recorded on a crime report or a custody report if the individual is arrested and could be recorded in the officers Pocket Nore Book (PNB).
- Who that information is shared with and under which legislation e.g. another police department internally or external force and the purposes of the sharing
