I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 19th August 2024. Please find below the response to your request:
Under the Freedom of Information Act, could you please tell me for the year 2024 - up until July 31st:
- the number of domestic abuse offences recorded by police where the victim is male
- the number of recorded domestic homicides where the victim is male

Caveat: There are occasions where police attend a domestic incident and the circumstances do not match that of a criminal offence. In such circumstances a domestic incident is recorded but as ‘no crime’. As no crime is recorded those present are described as Involved Parties, not suspect or victim. These have not been included as the request specifically asks for victim.
The data shows the number of individuals not the number of crimes, meaning if a crime has two victims (both listed as male) it will count as 2 in the data and if the same person has been linked to multiple crimes as a victim they will be counted once for every crime they are linked to as a victim/associated victim.
There can be multiple victims linked to a crime where only one of the victims may be male (others maybe females or unknown), in this case the crime will be included in the data. If gender has not been completed or has been listed as unknown they have not been included in the results.
