I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 7th February 2024. Please find below the response to your request:
Please can you provide the following information:
1) How many illegal vapes have been seized in the past year (January 2023 – January 2024)
2) Of these vapes, how many were tested for the presence of prohibited substances
3) Of those tested, how many tested positive for fentanyl
If possible, please can you provide these statistics broken down by month.

West Mercia Police holds some of the information you have requested
- How many illegal vapes have been seized in the past year (January 2023 – January 2024)
26 vapes were seized as drugs or drugs paraphernalia
- Of these vapes, how many were tested for the presence of prohibited substances
The seized system does not give this information however the items were all visually identified by officers as drugs or drugs paraphernalia
- Of those tested, how many tested positive for fentanyl
As Above the seized system does not give this information, however 19 of the 26 were identified as containing cannabis oil.
