I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 14^th November 2024.  Please find below the response to your request:

I am looking to request information on the number of non-crime hate incidents recorded each year:

1. Please can you provide an annual breakdown of non-crime hate incidents (NCHIs) recorded for each year from 2014 (or earliest possible year) to 2024. For 2024, please provide up until the date of response.

2. Please can you provide an annual breakdown of the NCHIs recorded for each year from 2014 (or earliest possible year) to 2024 by characteristic (i.e. religion, race etc.). For 2024, please provide up until the date of response.

West Mercia Police do hold the information requested. Please see below.

Caveat: The non-crime incidents have been presented in two issue tables. The first table provides the total number of non-crime hate incident reports for the requested period. The second table shows the number of individual hate strands recorded for those incidents. Please note, that some investigations may involve multiple hate elements; therefore, the table totals may not match.

Data is only available from 01/01/2018.
