I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 9th October 2024. Please find below the response to your request:
Please can you give the following information for the following years 2021, 2022, 2023 and if possible so far 2024.
***I'd like the information for elderly care homes ie those over 65. If you cannot break that down please provide the information for all adult care homes and make that clear***

West Mercia Police do hold the requested information. Please see tables below.
Caveat:
There is no specific offence title relating to abuse which has occurred within a care/nursing home. We have therefore had to rely on a search of the location field to find these records. There is a field on our crime system for offence “location type” however this is not mandatory and not routinely completed, it also only has one option for care homes (regardless of the age of the service users). Therefore, only offences which involved a victim, associated victim, or involved party (non-crime investigations do not have victims, all persons involved are linked as an involved party) who have a DOB less than 30/09/1959 meaning they would have been aged 65 or over at the time of the incident have been provided.
Data has been provided by investigation type (Crime and Non-Crime). Non-Crimes do not have a police outcome as no criminal offence was established.
