FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: 402663
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 16th April 2025. Please find below the response to your request:
I would like to know, for the financial year to the end of March 2025,
- how many speeding drivers were detected by Herefordshire's only fixed speed camera, on the A465 Belmont Road, Hereford;
- how many of these detections led to fines being issued, and what sum was received in paid fines in total;
- what the maximum detected speed was, and by what sort of vehicle.
For comparison, and if achievable within the resource limit for a FOI request, I would also like the same information for the previous financial year, to end of March 2024.

In FY 24/25 there were 1643 speed offence detected. Of these, 1492 were offered a speed awareness course option and 56 were offered the fixed penalty. Due to the 6 month’s limitation of proceedings not all alleged offences have been resolved. To date, 340 offenders at this site have accepted the fixed penalty of £100 fine and 3 penalty points.
The highest speed detected was 65MPH by a West Mercia Police car.
Please note: the difference in figures is due to some of the fixed penalty notices being cancelled after they were issued. Also we do not hold the information on fines paid as these go to central government
