I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 8th August 2025. Please find below the response to your request:
I would like to request the following information:
- The number of vehicles seized by the force from January 1 2024 to August 8 2025
- This number broken down into the reasons for seizure (e.g. x number of vehicles were seized for driving without insurance, etc...)
- This number broken down into the outcome of what happened to the vehicles (e.g. x number of vehicles were reclaimed by owners, y number of vehicles were sold or given away etc...)
- A full list of the organisations, companies, or individuals to which these vehicles have been sold/given to
- The number of vehicles sold/given directly to registered asylum seekers
- The number of vehicles sold/given to the Home Office to be used by registered asylum seekers
- The number of vehicles sold/given to the local council to be used by registered asylum seekers
- The number of vehicles sold/given to the Ministry of Defence to be used by registered asylum seekers

S59 (public order) 1
S99 (Abandoned) 2
S99 (Stolen) 8
PACE (Police & Criminal Evidence) 15
Fatal / Life changing collision 1
Burnt out 2
This number broken down into the outcome of what happened to the vehicles (e.g. x number of vehicles were reclaimed by owners, y number of vehicles were sold or given away etc...) No vehicles were collected by their owners. None were given away to organisations. 3 have been sold at auction, and the remainder have been scrapped.
A full list of the organisations, companies, or individuals to which these vehicles have been sold/given to West Mercia Police sold seized vehicles via Wilsons Auctions Telford.
In relation to the following questions:
The number of vehicles sold/given directly to registered asylum seekers
The number of vehicles sold/given to the Home Office to be used by registered asylum seekers
The number of vehicles sold/given to the local council to be used by registered asylum seekers
