I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 17th February 2025. Please find below the response to your request:
I am conducting historical research into the unsolved 1943 case known as Who Put Bella in the Wych Elm?, which was originally investigated by Worcestershire Constabulary. I would like to inquire whether any archival records still exist regarding the case and, if so, whether they are publicly accessible.
I understand that this is a historic case, but I would appreciate any information you could provide, including:
* Any surviving investigation reports or police records.
* Details on forensic examinations or witness statements from the time.
* Whether any officers involved in the case left memoirs or notes.
* If the case remains classified, the procedure for requesting access to any surviving documents.
If no records remain with West Mercia Police, could you advise whether they were transferred to The National Archives or any other relevant institution?

West Mercia Police do not hold any records in relation to this – they have been transferred to the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeological Service.
