I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 7th January 2025. Please find below the response to your request:
I would like to file an FOI request for the following data, pertaining to the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (Clare's Law), for each annual period from 2014* - 2024 inclusive.
Within each period that follows, please could you provide:
How many DVDS requests were received within each period?
How many of those requests within each period were fulfilled?
How many of those requests within each period were rejected?
And, if retrievable, reason(s) for rejection?
The periods in question are from 01 January to 31 December (inclusive) within each year 2014 - 2024 (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024).
For example, in 2014, between 01 Jan - 31 Dec inclusive, X DVDS requests were received, X were fulfilled, X were rejected. Of those rejected, X number were rejected owing to X reason, and X were rejected owed to X reason.
*Or as the scheme was implemented

Your request for information has been considered in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (“the Act”), and I am not obliged to provide the information requested.
S.12(1) of the Act states that a public authority is not obliged to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying with the request would exceed the “appropriate limit”. For police forces in England and Wales, the "appropriate limit" is £450 or 18 hours of work as set by the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
The information you have requested is not available in a readily retrievable format for the part of your request: reason(s) for rejection?.
There are 5574 records. In order to ascertain whether the information you have requested is held would take in excess of 18 hours as each record would have to be checked individually.
In accordance with s.17(5) of the Act, this acts as a Refusal Notice.
However, in accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to your request and can provide the information requested for the remaining questions as this was retrieved during our initial research. This should not be taken as a precedent that additional information would be supplied outside of the time/fees legislation for any subsequent requests.

Caveat:
We are only able to provide data for the last 6 years specifically from 01/01/2019.
With regards to how many reports have been fulfilled and how many have been rejected, we have taken this to mean as how many reports have resulted in a disclosure and how many have not. Therefore, provided in the above table is the “finalisation type” for each report.
Please note that some requests maybe made Claires law but upon investigation they would be more appropriately dealt with under Sarahs Law, sometimes the initial report can lead to a crime being disclosed. This is why some of the finalisation types are not directly related to DVD’s.
