I would request details of guide lines given to your mobile camera operatives in relation to choosing a location and setting up procedures.

Please be advised that mobile camera operatives do not independently choose enforcement locations. All enforcement sites are pre-determined through a structured process that ensures compliance with national standards and local safety priorities.
Specifically:
Site Selection:
Each enforcement location is selected based on community concern or the need for casualty reduction, in line with the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) guidelines for speed and red-light enforcement. Additionally, we carry out full speed data surveys selecting sites where a value is considered excessive in cases above the 85th%. Sites are graded according to considered criteria with visit numbers varying between 1 and 4+ a month.
Risk Assessment:
Every site undergoes a comprehensive risk assessment to ensure the safety of both the operatives and the public. This includes evaluating visibility, accessibility, and environmental conditions. Prior to enforcement on each occasion all signage is checked.
Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs):
Sites are checked for compliance with relevant Traffic Regulation Orders, ensuring that enforcement is legally valid and appropriate.
Operational Setup:
Operatives follow strict protocols for setting up equipment, including ensuring that vehicles and cameras are clearly visible where required, and that all equipment used is Home Office Type Approved 2.
