I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 27th June 2025. Please find below the response to your request:
I'd like to make a request regarding information on drivers being fined for not wearing their seatbelt in your area.
Specifically, I'd like to request information on the following:
- How many drivers in total were fined for not wearing a seatbelt in your district in the last 12 months/in the previous 12 months up until your most recent data set?
- How many drivers between the ages of 17 and 29 were fined for not wearing a seatbelt in your district in the last 12 months/in the previous 12 months up until your most recent data set?
- The number of casualties caused by drivers not wearing a seatbelt in your district in the last 12 months/in the previous 12 months up until your most recent data set?
- The top 3 months where you reported the highest numbers of drivers being fined for not wearing a seatbelt in your district in the last 12 months/in the previous 12 months up until your most recent data set?

- The number of casualties caused by drivers not wearing a seatbelt in your district in the last 12 months/in the previous 12 months up until your most recent data set?
Between 01st January to 31st December 2024, 3 people were killed and 17 persons received serious injury in road traffic collisions where at the time of the incident the persons were not wearing a seat belt. During the same period, a further 40 persons received slight injuries. Thus far, in 2025 (up to 30th June) 2 persons have been killed, 7 have received serious injuries and 12 have received slight injuries.
