I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 17^th March 2025.  Please find below the response to your request:

This is a request about officers and staff who have second jobs or business interests outside of the police.

How many serving police officers and staff members have registered second jobs or business interests outside their job at the force?

If possible, the data should be broken down individually with the officer’s rank and the specific nature of the job / business interest.

West Mercia Police hold the requested information.

Please be advised that the data disclosed for rank and business interest has been disaggregated into two tables to ensure that individuals cannot be identified, as provided in Section 40 of the Freedom of Information Act.

Exemption under Section 40(2) is applicable where the information requested relates to a third party or could lead to the identification of the individual.

Releasing the detailed information, broken down as requested, is likely to identify an individual.  This would breach an individual’s rights under the Data Protection Act 2018, in particular Article 5(1) of the UK GDPR which states that personal data shall be processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to the data subject.  Such a disclosure would also be likely to breach s.8 Human Rights Act 1998 which states that everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life, his home and his correspondence.
