I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 6th March 2026. Please find below the response to your request:
- Please provide the number of credit card fraud reports recorded in the financial years 2023/2024 and 2024/2025. For each of these, please provide the total reported financial losses associated.
- Please break these figures down by personal demographic e.g. (age, gender) for each financial year mentioned above.
- Please also break these figures down by the types of credit card fraud if available (e.g. card-not-present fraud, contactless fraud, identity theft, stolen card misuse) for each financial year mentioned above.
Clarification: For question 2, I was requesting victim data.

West Mercia Police have conducted searches in relation to your request and hold some of the information requested.

Caveat: As the request specifies credit card fraud only, searches have only been carried out for frauds involving credit cards and not those involving debit cards. Credit card fraud involves the unauthorised use of credit card information, which can occur through various methods such as phishing, skimming, or theft.
No information is held with regards to the total reported financial losses associated as this is not always recorded.
