FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: HRC0002396
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 20th April 2026. Please find below the response to your request:
I would like to request an answer to the following question:
How many police officers were assaulted on duty in your police force area in the financial years 2025-2026
Reply
West Mercia Police have conducted searches, and I can confirm that we hold information in relation to:
West Mercia Crimes, created between 01/04/2025 & 31/03/2026 with a
Primary Offence Sub Sub Group of “Assault with injury on a constable” or “Assault without injury on a constable”
Caveat: The first table shows the number of crimes which occurred within the requested time frame. Some officers have been the victim or more than one assault within the time frame, therefore the second table shows the number of individual officers who have been the victim of assault (each individual is counted once regardless of how many assaults they have been a victim of).
