FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NO: HRC0025237/26
I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 17th August 2026. Please find below the response to your request:
School Road, Hanbury, Bromsgrove had a change of speed limit to 40mph for it's entire length in 2022 following a fatal RTC in 2021. I would like to know what speed enforcement has been carried out since the change. There are a number of flashing signs to indicate a reduced speed of 20mph during school start and end times. There has been a significant increase in traffic generally along the road this year including HGV'S on a daily basis and I am not aware of any enforcement in the area. I would be grateful if you could tell me what enforcement has been carried out.

The 40mph speed limit was introduced on the full length of School Road, Hanbury on 18/8/2022.
Worcestershire County Council carried out a speed analysis check at 4 points on School Road post 40mph implementation in 2023. The results showed speeds were below our speed enforcement intervention level of 46mph.
West Mercia Police have not received any request for enforcement since the 40mph limit was introduced. We have not therefore had any reason to carry out any mobile enforcement there.
The most recent speed data obtained on School Road (In vicinity of Hanbury School) was in the week of 5/8/26 and 12/8/26. The data yielded a mean speed of 30mph and an 85th percentile of 36mph. We are therefore of the opinion that speed compliance is satisfactory.
We are aware of one reported collision since the introduction of the 40mph speed limit, but it was not believed to involve excessive speed.
