I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 20th January 2026.  Please find below the response to your request:

I am writing under the Freedom of Information act to request data you have recorded on exposure offences/investigation.

Specifically, I request the following information. Please use the table templates.

1.  How many new exposure investigations were opened, how many exposure investigations were finalised, how many of the finalised investigations had a named investigating officer allocated, and how many were linked to an attending officer, in each calendar year from 2019 to 2025? I specifically mean offence title of exposure, rather than the wider offence category of exposure and voyeurism. See below table for clarity:

 

 

2.      How many of the exposure investigations which were finalised each year were closed within a day of being opened? How many were finalised within a week of being opened? For simplicity please base this on dates rather than hours. i.e. opened on 1st of month and closed by the 2nd (date + 1) or opened on 1st and closed by the 8th (date+7) for example. See below table:

 

 

3.      Of the exposure investigations finalised each year, please break down by offence outcome per year (outcome 1-22 or other/na), where for example type 1 includes 1A/alternative offence etc. See below table:

Caveat: In line with Management of Police Information Guidance data may be deleted off our systems after 6 years, data recorded prior to this time maybe incomplete or inaccurate. Therefore, data has been provided for the last 6 years.

We are unable to provide data on how many investigations involved an officer visit.  Officer scene attendance is not recorded on our crime management system.  It is recorded on our call management system however there is no common reference between our call management and crime management system and therefore we cannot compare the records.

Please note: Crimes are created/recorded by the allocated investigating officer (they are not auto populated from our call management system) and cannot be closed until reviewed by sgt.  Therefore, the lack of named person within the “officer in case field” is possibly a data error.

Please note: The data provided is based on the difference between the created and disposal date on the investigation.   Some crimes may come to our attention during the investigation into a linked matter and are therefore not recorded at the beginning of their investigation.  Disposal dates are only populated after the necessary line management review and therefore not necessarily the same day that the suspect was dealt with/the victim was updated.  The time between these dates cannot necessarily be considered to the same as the length of the investigation.
