FOI Data Reveals How UK Drivers Deal With Speeding Offences
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please provide the following information relating to speeding offences within your police force area.
For each of the following calendar years: 2023, 2024 and 2025 please provide:
Q1. Speeding Offences Detected
The total number of speeding offences detected.
Q2. Outcomes of Speeding Offences
Of the speeding offences detected, please provide the number that resulted in:
- A Speed Awareness Course being offered
- A Speed Awareness Course being accepted or completed
- A Speed Awareness Course being declined by the driver (if recorded)
- A Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty (Fixed Penalty Notice) being issued
- A Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty (Fixed Penalty Notice) being accepted
- Cases referred to court / prosecution
Q3. Course Eligibility
If recorded, the number of speeding offences where a Speed Awareness Course could not be offered because the driver had already attended a course within the previous three years.
