I write in connection with your request for information which was received on 7th September 2026. Please find below the response to your request:

 

Can you provide the relevant information to this question?

 

Can you provide the number on how many cases you have had of someone "driving with an illegal number plate" in West Mercia between in September 2025 and August 2026?

West Mercia Police can only provide the number of offences that are recorded on our recording system, so this won’t include matters where the officers have issued a warning at the roadside, or matters that may have been reported to police but did not result in a traffic offence report being completed. To try to obtain these would exceed the fees limit.

 

For the offence of ‘drive a motor vehicle when the vehicle registration number fails to conform to regulations’ we have 328 offences recorded for matters dated between September 2025 to September 2026.
