Summary

It was alleged that the officer:

Conducted searches on policing systems and have accessed records which they knew or ought to have known were not for a proper policing purpose.

Decision

The Panel determined that the proven allegations of searching and accessing police systems without a policing purpose breached three of the Standards of Professional Behaviour which were: Orders and Instructions, Confidentiality and Discreditable Conduct.  The panel found that the above breaches crossed the disciplinary threshold, and that dismissal could be justified.  His conduct therefore amounted to Gross Misconduct.

As a result of this Misconduct Hearing the panel decided that a final Written Warning for 4 years was the appropriate and proportionate sanction.  This will be in effect from 26/02/2025.
