Man receives further 12 years for historic sexual offences

David John Butcher who is 54 years old and currently serving a 12 year prison sentence for sexual offences, has had a further 12 years added to his sentence by a judge at Crown Court for further, recently disclosed historic sexual offences.

Butcher was sentenced following his trial held at Warwick Justice Centre in Leamington Spa. Butcher was already serving a 12 year custodial sentence after being found guilty in 2018 of sexual abuse offences. The 12 years custodial sentence already being served means he has now received a total sentence of 24 years.

Detective Inspector Ed Slough said: “I am extremely pleased to see that dangerous predator will lose more of his freedom. His crimes will live with the victims for a very, very long time and 24 years in prison will not only give them some sense of justice served but help keep other people safe from his abuse.

“The total sentence reflects how serious his offences are and let this be a warning; I want anyone who is guilty of sexual abuse, of rape or any form of sexual offence to know that victims are brave, they are courageous and they are talking to us. Detectives will investigate their claims and we will do everything in our power to ensure the guilty lose their freedom.”

“The victims have all been extremely brave throughout the process in providing evidence during interviews and in court proceedings. I would encourage anyone who has been the victim of a sexual offence report the incident to us, where specially trained officers will help victims with care and sensitivity and will work to get the right result for them with their wishes in mind.”
