Thank you to all of our volunteers!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers who between them have contributed more than 30,000 hours of their time to support policing.

Today marks the start of National Volunteers’ Week (Wednesday 1 June – Tuesday 7 June) which gives us the opportunity to reflect on the outstanding voluntary contribution made by our Special Constables, Police Support Volunteers and Volunteer Police Cadets during the past year, which amounts to an incredible 32,250 hours.

Citizens in Policing is a key link in connecting communities to policing and policing to communities. Our volunteers make a significant contribution to, and impact upon, all of our communities across the counties covered by West Mercia.

Sophie Paley, West Mercia Police’s Citizens In Policing Manager, said: “National Volunteers’ Week allows us to more formally recognise all our volunteers for their continuous efforts and commitment to policing. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping to reduce crime and protecting people from harm. The fantastic work they carry out enables us to strengthen relationships with the communities we serve.

“There are some outstanding examples of volunteers within the force, whether this be one of our Special Constables, Police Support Volunteers, Inclusivity Volunteers or Volunteer Police Cadets and those who are part of our local community watch schemes.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation for the incredible service and strength our volunteers provide to West Mercia Police and I welcome you to join us in recognising their instrumental skills, experience and dedication. Each duty spent volunteering really does make a difference.’’
